3 Trends for Lighting a Corridor

How to light a corridor: design keys and functional solutions

Corridors are transitional spaces and often the first impression of offices or hotels, yet they are frequently overlooked in lighting projects. However, a well-thought-out lighting strategy can transform them into welcoming, functional areas with their own character. At Tecsoled, we share three different approaches to lighting corridors with both technical and aesthetic criteria, using solutions from our catalogue.

1. Playing with asymmetry

In contemporary residential projects with very long, minimalist corridors, the aim is to avoid the typical “tunnel effect” created by centralised lighting. Instead, opt for asymmetrical side lighting, alternating both sides of the ceiling to bring dynamism and make the route feel more welcoming and fluid.

The KORE family works wonderfully for this approach. These are recessed, adjustable downlights that allow us to play with the beam direction without the luminaire stealing visual focus.

We recommend using them with a warm colour temperature (2700K or 3000K) and choosing the smallest diameter (Ø61) if the space is narrow.

Ideal for long corridors, minimalist projects, or spaces with little decoration.

2. Accent lighting

When the corridor acts as a gallery or features decorative elements (paintings, textures, or furniture), the most effective option is to use well-directed accent lighting.

Install luminaires with a controlled beam to highlight key features and create depth.

In these cases, the ONNA MINI spotlight is the perfect choice: retractable, adjustable, discreet, and with a CRI of 95, allowing artworks or material textures to truly stand out. It is recessed and trimless to maintain a clean aesthetic.

Ideal for gallery-style corridors, law firms, boutique hotels, creative studios, or exhibition areas.

3. Invisible profiles

Want a corridor that doesn’t look like a corridor? If the aim is soft general lighting without visible elements, use indirect linear light to create a sense of spaciousness, continuity, and lightness.

The ideal choice is recessed profiles with trimless finishes, fully integrated into the architecture.

For example, the T21 profile is perfect for washing walls or false ceilings with a clean, minimal line of light, while the DT70 profile creates a floating wall effect—ideal for projects where architecture takes centre stage.
